Last Will and Testament of Harvey Jarvis Deceased

In the name of the Benevolent Father of all.

I Harvey Jarvis of Ripley County of the State of Indiana do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.

Item 1st. I give and devise to my beloved wife Sarah Jarvis in lieu of her interest in my land the farm on which we now reside situate in Ripley County Indiana known as a part of the North west quarter of Section 18 in Township 6 North of Range 12 East and bounded as follows to-wit: beginning at the south East corner of the said quarter Section thence west 40 rods to a Stone thence North 160 rods to a stone thence East 40 rods to a Stone, thence South 160 rods to the place of beginning containing 40 acres more or Less during her natural life and all of my personal property consisting of household goods and chattles that may be there on at the time of my deceased during her natural life as aforesaid. at the death of said wife the real Estate aforesaid.

I give and devise to my son Milton T Jarvis and Mary Ann Jarvis his wife the farm on which we now reside and all the personal property consisting of household goods and chattles that may be there on at the time of our decease by Milton T Jarvis a paying James P Jarvis one dollar and Joseph R Jarvis one dollar and Lafyatte N Jarvis one dollar and William C Jarvis one dollary of money at our decease.

Witness my hand seal this 15" day of October 1880.

Be it remembered that on the 3rd day of February 1882, John P Jarvis one of the subscribing witnesses to the within and foregoing last Will and Testament of Harvey Jarvis late of said County deceased personally appeared before the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Ripley County in the State of Indiana, and being duly sworn by the Clerk of said Court, upon his oath [Note: Photocopy from Ripley County Historical Society missing this text.] sign his name to said instrument in writing and as for his last Will and Testament, and that this deponent, at the same time heard the said Harvey Jarvis declare the said instrument in writing to be his last Will and Testament, and that the said instrument in writing was, at the same time, at the request of the said Harvey Jarvis and with his consent attested and subscribed by the said John P. Jarvis + Jacob Jolly in the presence of said testator, and in the presence of each other, as subscribing witnesses thereto, and that the said Harvey Jarvis was at the time of the signing and subscribing of said instrument in writing as aforesaid, of full age (that is more than twnety one years of age) and of sound and disposing mind and memory, and not under any coercion or restraint, as the said deponent verily believes, and further deponent says not.

I William Gookins Clerk of the Ripley Circuit Court of Ripley County, Indiana do certify that the within annexed Will and Testament of Harvey Jarvis has been duly ad-mitted to probate, and duly proved by the testimony of John P Jarvis one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, that a complete record of said Will and of the testimony of the said John P Jarvis in proof thereof, has been by and duly made and re-corded in Book D at pages 230 + 231 of the Record of Wills of said County.

In attestation whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of said Court at Versailles this 3" day of February 1882.
